Shutdown Pitching and Timely Hits Lead FRC to 2-0 Win

QUINCY--Feather River pitchers Dylan Cabral and Jake Christianson shut down visiting Lassen in a laser fast two hours and four minutes to help lead the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 win over the Cougars on Friday afternoon at Coates Field.

Feather River improved to 19-6 with the victory and to 10-1 in the Golden Valley Conference with the victory. Lassen is now 15-9 on the year and 6-4 in the GVC.

FRC is ranked No. 6 in the latest CCCAA North Poll and Lassen checked in at No. 17.

Cabral improved to 3-3 on the season with a masterful performance. In 8.1 innings of work, he allowed just three hits, walked one batter and struck out three. Christianson came on to fan the final two batter of the game for his fourth save of the year.

The Golden Eagles scored a run in the first inning on Cory McIntrye's RBI-single and added another in the fourth on Jerry Thomas' run-scoring base knock. Thomas and Cooper Thacker had two of FRC's seven hits in the game. Lassen's Connor Irvin was the hard-luck loser, allowing just the two runs through seven innings of work while also fanning seven batters.

Neither team had an extra base hit on the day.

The two squads will square off again on Saturday, this time in Susanville for a doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at noon.
