QUINCY--It was a home debut to savor for Feather River College during a doubleheader sweep of visiting College of the Siskiyous, 12-2 and 9-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The twinbill wins gave the Golden Eagles a three-game sweep of the Eagles, jump-starting their Golden Valley Conference record to 3-0 and their overall mark to 10-5. FRC now also has a five-game win streak to take into a Monday non-conference doubleheader at Los Medanos.

With the losses, College of the Siskiyous falls to 6-9 on the season and to 0-3 in the GVC.

In each win on Saturday, Feather River jumped out early on the Eagles, putting a four-spot on the board in the first. 

In game one, FRC ran their way to victory with ten total stolen bases to supplement their seven hits and four Siskiyous errors. Mohi Kahui had three thefts, while Eric Romero and Cooper Thacker had two each. Romero also led the offense overall, driving in three runs with a double. Elijah Hinojosa picked up the win on the mound with 4.2 solid innings of relief, allowing only three hits, no earned runs and he fanned three.

In the second game, the Golden Eagles scored four in the first and five in the sixth to hold off a Siskiyous comeback. The Eagles scored two runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth, but that would be all.

FRC had 12 hits in the nightcap, including two doubles and a home run by Jerry Thomas. Cory McIntyr had a home run and four runs batted in, and Nainoa Kane-Yates had a round-tripper and two hits. Thacker had a pair of hits, including a double.

JJ Neal picked up the win in relief as the Golden Eagles ran out a committee of pitchers (five). Neal pitched 1.1 innings and gave up no runs and one hit.

Monday's doubleheader at Los Medanos begins at 11 am. Next weekend, the Golden Eagles return home to host Shasta in a three-game slate that starts Friday at 2 pm.
