FRC Baseball Nine Roll to 11-0 Win

WEED--Feather River pitcher Bridger Holmes fanned 11 batters in five innings and ten different teammates had at least a hit each as the Golden Eagles rolled to a 11-0 win over College of the Siskiyous on Saturday afternoon in Weed.

It was the seventh straight victory for the Feather River squad, who improved to 23-6 overall and to 14-1 in the Golden Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles, ranked No. 6 in the CCCAA North Region, ran their 2022 road record to 16-5. Siskiyous is now 7-19 this season and 1-13 in the GVC.

Holmes allowed just two hits in his five innings of work. He walked four, but didn't give up a hit until the fifth inning. In that stanza, he gave up two hits and a walk to load the bases with nobody out, but battled back with two strikeouts and fly out to end his outing. Holmes' 11 strikeouts was a season high, and he improved to 4-0 on the season.

Scott Lewis and Kyle Giovannoni picked up where Holmes left off, fanning seven more Eagle batters and allowing only two more hits, giving Siskiyous four total hits on the day.

Ten players had hits for head coach Terry Baumgartner's club, including catcher Ryan Gray who had four. Gray went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and scored three times. Eric Romero and Jake Madson had two hits including a two-bagger for Madson.

The Golden Eagles will step outside of conference play on Monday, traveling to San Joaquin Delta for a match-up against the No. 2 team in the CCCAA North Region. The single contest in Stockton will begin at 2 pm.
