Golden Eagles Continue Hot Streak, Top Roadrunners

QUINCY--With the Golden Vally Conference banner already secured, the Feather River Golden Eagles began their preparation for postseason play with another impressive victory on Saturday afternoon.

FRC took down second-place Butte College 8-2 behind a 12-hit attack and another excellent pitching performance from Bridger Holmes. The Golden Eagles improved to 31-7 on the season and to 22-1 in the GVC. The Roadrunners are now 24-14 overall and 16-7 in conference play.

Feather River jumped out early on Butte, scoring twice in the first and third innings. Ryan Blanchard had an RBI double in the first and Cooper Thacker had an RBI to get the Golden Eagles on the board. In the third, Thacker added an RBI-triple to put the home team up 5-0.

Holmes took over from there. He pitched six innings, allowing only five hits, no earned runs and he fanned four to improve to 6-0 on the season. Seven total FRC pitchers got work on the hill, holding Butte to a total of eight hits and one earned run.

Thacker wore out the Roadrunner pitching staff with four hits, three RBI and a stolen base. Jerry Thomas had a pair of doubles and Blanchard had a double and a triple.

Two more games remain on the regular season slate for the Golden Eagles. They will play at Lassen College on Wednesday (3 pm) and will then host Lassen on Thursday (3 pm). Thursday's game will serve at Sophomore Day in Quincy.
