Feather River Roll Continues

Feather River Roll Continues

SACRAMENTO--Grant McGuire had three hits and drove in four runs while eight Feather River pitchers did their part as the Golden Eagles won a Tuesday non-conference game over American River, 14-6.

It was the seventh straight victory for FRC, who improved to 18-4 overall. American River dropped to 7-16.

Back on February 2, these same two teams went 13 innings before a final outcome was written, with Feather River surviving for an 8-6 win. Tuesday's game wasn't really anything like that one.

American River jumped out first at Beaver Field with a three-run first inning. But in what has been typical of late, the Golden Eagles answered with runs in bunches and consistent output. The visitors first scored with three runs in the second and then added four in the fourth, two more in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth.

McGuire had a two-run single in the second inning and RBI-base hits in the third and eighth to help fuel the consistent attack. Andrew Lehmann was 2-for-2 with four RBI and Jared Stevenson drove in three runs. The Golden Eagles had 13 total hits, two each by Shane Danley, Dylan Marx and Quinten Terrell.

Rhys Fairweather pitched a perfect second and third innings on a bullpen committee day to get the win.

The Golden Eagles, who are 15-4 on the road this year, will get to play at home on Thursday when they face rival Butte College. That Golden Valley Conference twin bill will start at noon. On Friday, FRC will travel to Butte for a single contest at 2 pm. Butte comes into the series with an 8-3 conference mark and they are 16-9 overall. FRC is 8-1 in the GVC.
