Golden Eagles Bash Way to 11-7 Win

Golden Eagles Bash Way to 11-7 Win

SUSANVILLE--Feather River built a 10-1 lead and then held off host Lassen for a 11-7 win on Monday afternoon in a key Golden Valley Conference contest.

Tied coming into the game, the Golden Eagles now have a one-game lead over the Cougars with another game coming up tomorrow (Tuesday) in Quincy. Start time is 3 pm.

Feather River is now 10-3 in conference play and 21-6 overall. Lassen is 9-4 in the GVC and 17-9 on the year.

FRC jumped out to a quick lead, scoring early and often. Rocco Crow started the run production with a solo home run in the second inning, followed by a three-run blast from Jared Stevenson in the third. Stevenson walked with the bases loaded in the fourth and then doubled home two more runs in the fifth for six total runs knocked home.

Zane Denton also had a two-run double in the fifth as the Golden Eagles chased five runs across the plate for a 10-1 lead. The Cougars would chip away at that margin to make the final closer at 11-7, but it was too big a hill to climb for Lassen.

Feather River had 16 hits in the game. Seven players had multiple hits, led by Denton's three base knocks. Stevenson finished 2-for-5 with a double, home run and six RBI.

The Golden Eagles continue a busy week after playing Lassen on Tuesday, taking on College of the Siskiyous in single games on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
