Golden Eagles Rally Back for 9-6 Win over Eagles

WEED--Visiting Feather River rallied twice for a 9-6 road victory over the College of the Siskiyous on Saturday afternoon to improve to 12-4 in Golden Valley Conference play.

It was win number two for the Golden Eagles in the four-game series against the Eagles. The two teams will square off again on Monday in Quincy in a doubleheader set to begin at noon. FRC is now 23-7 overall while Siskiyous falls to 12-16 on the season and 5-11 in GVC play.

After a Friday series opening game that was decided fairly quickly during a 15-3 mercy rule ending for FRC, Saturday's game was much different. This time Siskiyous jumped out to an early lead of 3-1 through five innings. But the Golden Eagles struck back with a five-run sixth to claim a 6-3 lead, bolstered in part by Andrew Lehmann's two-run homer. The Eagles then raced back to tie the contest at 6-6 in the bottom half of the inning.

Feather River returned with its own three-spot in the seventh to climb back on top, 9-6. FRC reliever Weston Russell went to work from there, spinning 3.1 innings of needed relief to nail down the win. Russell gave up just two hits, no runs, struck out three and worked around four walks for the victory.

For the second day in a row, the Golden Eagles had double figure hit numbers with 12. Lehmann had three of those, as did Zane Denton and Shane Danley

At 12-4, Feather River remains 1.5 games back of Butte (15-4), who defeated Shasta again today, but they are even in the loss column.
