Feather River Rolls Redwoods

QUINCY--Feather River took another step towards a Golden Valley Conference championship on Friday afternoon with a 12-2 win over the College of the Redwoods.

The Golden Eagles scored in five straight innings to push their visitors away, improving to 18-4 in the GVC. Meanwhile, Butte College did their part to make it a two-team race with their 3-2 win over Lassen. Butte is now also 18-4, with another game against Lassen on Saturday. FRC and Butte wrap up the regular season next weekend against each other with the league title on the line.

Feather River will take a 29-7 overall record and a No. 1 north region ranking into a game against Redwoods tomorrow.

Today, FRC rode the starting pitching of Tyler Stolfich and consistent hitting that amounted to death by a ten little cuts. That's how many hits the Golden Eagles had, seven of them for singles. FRC scored a run in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

That was more than enough offense for Stolfich, who went the first five innings and allowed one scant hit and no runs. He walked three and fanned six in his winning outing.

Andrew Lehmann and Quinten Terrell led the hit parade with two hits each. Lehmann scored twice and Terrell drove in two runs.

The Golden Eagles will chase win No. 30 tomorrow, with the first pitch slated for 1 pm.
