Golden Eagles Edge Bear Cubs With Second Half Comeback

Quincy - The Feather River College football team came back in rumbling fashion to defeat the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Bear Cubs Saturday (10/21) afternoon. The Golden Eagles trailed 17-0 going into halftime but quickly got on the board in the second half with a six yard touchdown run by Levi Andrews. After an SRJC safety pushed their lead to 19-7, the Golden Eagles ended the third quarter with a Zakary Rocha five yard touchdown pass. In their first possession of the 4th quarter, Feather River had a quick 3 play, 75 yard touchdown drive, capped off by a Jeryll McIntosh six yard run. The McIntosh touchdown run gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good. 

Freshman Quarterback Ryan Vaughan had 144 passing yards, with two touchdown passes. 

The ground attack of Andrews and McIntosh produced 218 yards on 34 attempts and two touchdowns. Andrews rushed for 118 yards on 20 attempts and McIntosh rushed for 100 yards on 14 attempts, with a touchdown each. 

Defensively, the Golden Eagles were lead by Sophomore Defensive Back Camren Foster. Foster had eight tackles, one pass breakup, and created the lone turnover of the game with a key interception in the 4th quarter. Royce Vaught recorded eight tackles and Jaziel Livingston recorded eight tackles, including four tackles for loss.

Freshman Kicker Gary Schnepp was key in the Golden Eagles victory. Schnepp went four for four on extra points, recorded five punts inside the SRJC 20 yard line, and recorded a 55.7 average on kickoffs. 

Win the victory, the Golden Eagles recorded moved to 2-5 (1-1) and a 2-1 record at home. Feather River takes on the Shasta College Knights at home on Saturday, October 28th at 5pm.
