Golden Eagles Hit The Road, Finish 1-2

Quincy - The Feather River College men's basketball team traveled down the San Jose to open up their 2023-2024 campaign. The Golden Eagles are led by Head Coach Derek Jensen, who is in his first year at Feather River College after spending the previous six years at Gavilan College.  

The Golden Eagles opened the San Jose Tip-off Classic against the College of San Mateo, Feather River defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 61-59. After trailing 35-29 at halftime, the Golden Eagles used a strong second half to earn the two point victory. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by Freshman TJ Steed. Steed recorded 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. 

Feather River faced tournament host San Jose City College in day two of the San Jose Tip-off Classic. The Jaguars came out on top with a 87-66 victory over the Golden Eagles. Feather River was led by Freshman Jerel Victor. Victor recorded 18 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

The Golden Eagles wrapped up the San Jose Tip-off Classic against Monterey Peninsula College. The Lobos defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 85-68. The Golden Eagles were led by Freshman Mikey Johnson. Johnson recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the loss. Steed recorded the first double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
