Golden Eagles push to 3-1 in GVC Conference Play

The Golden Eagles won their home opener against the 2-time defending Golden Valley Conference champions College of the Redwoods on Saturday January 20th. FRC controlled the game from start to finish, ultimately winning by a score of 82-70. Under the direction of new Head Coach Derek Jensen, the Golden Eagles moved to 2-0 in conference play. Feather River kept Redwoods on their heels with a balanced scoring attack as all five starters finished in double figures. Freshman point guard, TJ Steed, who posted his 7th double double of the season and his first career triple double, led FRC. Steed finished the game with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists (career high). Sophomore Marquis Hall-Wagner dominated in the paint finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Derrick Monroe finished with 17 points, Louis Griffin 15 points and Jerel Victor with 13 points. For the College of the Redwoods, reigning conference MVP Trey Neff led the Corsairs with 22 points.

 The Golden Eagles then faced Butte College Wednesday January 24th. Feather River won the game 57-54 with a team total of 46 rebounds, 14 assists and 9 blocks. Derrick Monroe finished the game with 14 points, TJ Steed with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Marquis Hall-Wagner ended the game with 12 rebounds and Josh Carr with 13 rebounds. The next match up for the Golden Eagles was on the road Saturday January 27th against College of the Siskiyous where they lost 84-65. They are now 3-1 in conference play. Feather River will play this Wednesday January 31st against Shasta College at home. Tip off will be at 6:00pm.
