Men's Basketball

 "Derek Jensen enters his first season as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Feather River College after spending the previous six years at Gavilan College.  Coach Jensen holds a Master's Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from California State University Monterey Bay. Jensen arrives at FRC with his wife, Emily, and their two children, Houston and Alanna.

In his final season at Gavilan College, Jensen led the Rams to a 19-10 overall record and a NorCal playoff berth.  Jensen showed the ability to build and grow a program as the Rams record improved every year under his direction.

Prior to being named Head Coach at Gavilan College, Derek Jensen assisted his brother, Dallas Jensen, at said school.  During his five seasons with the Rams as both Assistant and Head Coach, Gavilan College had an overall record of 93-51 and won multiple conference championships.  Jensen also recruited and coached many high level players in his time at Gavilan, including four All-State players, a State leading scorer and another 14 All-Conference players. Most importantly, Jensen has shown a consistent ability to help young men graduate and move onto 4-year universities. 

Before coaching college basketball, Jensen coached high school basketball and was Head Coach at both Christopher High School and Oakwood School.

As a player, Coach Jensen played his high school basketball at Gilroy High School where he was All-League and All-Section.  Jensen played his freshman year of Junior College Basketball under legendary coach Percy Carr at San Jose City College before transferring back to his community to play at Gavilan College.  He finished his playing career at BYU-Hawaii and then moved on to coaching where he could continue his love of the game."
