Feather River Celebrates 10 Years With Head Softball Coach Meredith Aragon

Feather River Celebrates 10 Years With Head Softball Coach Meredith Aragon

Coach Meredith Aragon is entering her 11th season as the head coach of the Feather River College Softball program. Her teams have experienced tremendous success during her tenure at FRC. Aragon has produced clubs that are consistently in the top 20 in the state of California, top 10 in Northern California, and earned multiple Golden Valley Conference Championships. She continues to create a culture where young ladies thrive both on and off the field.

Coach Meredith, or affectionately known as "Coacher" to her athletes, has always emphasized accountability and responsibility for her teams. Knowing the game of life is vaster than the sport of softball, Aragon teaches many life lessons during her athletes' two-year journey. Aragon believes "in creating an environment for growth and learning through consistency, hard work, communication, and love." She believes that she was placed at Feather River College to do God's work and remains very close to her faith as it has inspired her to be a coach and a leader. She empowers her athletes and is determined for them to "define everyday successes and know their worth."

Feather River Softball has earned the respect throughout Northern California as a program that plays hard, fights to win, and does so with integrity. Her teams are competitive and scrappy. The program has won five Golden Valley Conference Championships, and has had two 2nd place finishes in nine years. Even with the 2020 season stopped short due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Coach Meredith has a record of 204 wins and 152 losses during her time as the head coach of the Golden Eagles.

A robust 41 athletes have received scholarship offers to continue playing following their time on Aragon's team. She has produced 28 first-team All GVC selections, and 31 second-team All GVC selections. There have been three GVC MVP awards, two GVC pitchers of the year, eight All-State selections, one Northern California pitcher of the year, and two NFCA All-American awards.

In her ten years at FRC, Coach Aragon has helped shaped the lives of many young ladies. She has molded young athletes into great women – she does so with compassion, heart, and an overarching theme of love in her program. Athletic Director Greg McCarthy was asked about Aragon's years at the helm of the Golden Eagles, he said "Coach Meredith takes a holistic approach to her program and to her student-athletes. She sees the person first and has created a culture that fosters personal growth and builds lifelong relationships and memories. Feather River College is proud she chose us ten years ago."

Aragon's longtime assistant and husband Coach Marco Aragon believes Meredith's success is attributed to her passion for the sport and her care for the athletes. She believes in every single player that touches her field and she actively embraces them for who they are. Marco and many other of her present and former assistants agree, "Coach Meredith is the best person for the job, she has the biggest heart and her drive is unmatched – she makes us better coaches too." Players and coaches alike leave FRC with a full heart, a lifetime support system, and forever impacted by Aragon's guidance. It is truly a great place to play softball.

Congratulations on ten amazing years at FRC Coach Meredith Aragon!
