The Golden Eagles Softball team found themselves in the victory column twice after sweeping a doubleheader against Mendocino College this past weekend. Lisa Lucero was given the nod as game 1 starter in which she pitched 3.2 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Jersey Tsosie came in relief of Lucero and held Mendocino to just 1 hit and no runs through the end of the game, allowing the Golden Eagle offense to get back in the game and eventually take the lead. Homeruns from Alexa Baumgartner and Braelyn Birkel powered the Golden Eagles offense along with 2 hit performances from Lucero, Tsosie, and Kayli Mueller to seal the game at 6-5. 

Game 2 was another close one that required a comeback effort. The Golden Eagles found themselves down 4-0 after the second inning, only to chip away and eventually take the lead in a four run sixth inning. Baumgartner and Birkel followed up their great game one with more production in game 2. Baumgartner added 3 more hits to her day while Birkel collected 2 hits including a double. They both drove in two runs in game 2. Paisley Heitman had 2 hits of her own in the contest while Tsosie, Lucero, and Georgia Sudduth each had a hit in the game. Tsosie started in the circle for the Golden eagles in game 2, going 2.1 innings allowing 2 earned runs before giving way to Lucero who chewed up another 4 innings in relief, allowing only 2 runs herself. Jessica Calloway closed the game out, collecting the final 2 outs of the game, finishing the doubleheader sweep of Mendocino. 

The Golden Eagles improve their record to 5-7 overall as they head down to the Bay Area this weekend. The Golden Eagles will match up in two doubleheaders starting Friday March 15th at Cabrillo College before heading up to San Jose City College for a double header on Saturday. Feather River will then hold their home opener the following weekend, hosting both Yuba College and Butte College to open up conference play.
