Carlos Suarez enters his third year as the Head Coach for the Women's Cross Country and Track program at Feather River College.

Although the previous season was cut short to the covid-19 pandemic, the Eagles look to pick up where they left during their shortened season. Despite having only two meets, the Eagles were able to compile school records in the 100m dash as well as the 200m (Christensen 12.7, 26.03 respectively). Coach Suarez is optimistic on the 2021 season and is excited to see the sophomores move onto the university level.

In his first year at FRC, Carlos led the Golden Eagles to multiple school records, including those in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events. The Golden Eagles also earned the highest team total in school history at the Golden Valley Conference Championships, as well as placing 6 athletes on the podium. Standout quarter-miler Iyahna Jones became the first individual champion in school history, finishing 1st in the 400m. During the cross country season, Freshman Jenna Asnault led the Eagles by earning All-Conference recognition.

Suarez joined the Golden Eagles in the spring of 2017 after a very successful tenure as the head men’s and women’s coach at Marymount California University. In his first year, Suarez would help guide the program to many firsts including the first and second national championship titles for any sport in school history (1000m, 1500m), along with 4 All-American awards.

During the 2015-2016 track season, MCU would hold the #1 times in the country for the women’s 1,000m indoors (2:44) along with the 800m (2:03) and 1,500m (4:18) outdoors. In 2017, Suarez’ former athlete Hanna Hermansson would go on to compete at the Track & Field World Championships in London. The Mariners would make another national championship appearance on the men’s side during the 2017 cross country season. During that season, Suarez’ program would yield the fastest team times in program history, along with earning All-Academic Honors for both the men’s and women’s programs.

Prior to MCU, Coach Suarez was the Head Men’s & Women’s Track & Field coach at College of Marin. During his time at Marin, the program had one of its best seasons in school history. The 2015 season saw both the men's and women's teams score their highest point totals at the Big Conference Championships in over 20 years. Marin had five podium finishes, while qualifying four athletes to the Northern California championships.

Before Marin, Suarez served as the assistant sprints/relays coach at Sacramento City College for 2 seasons. While at SCC, Suarez coached multiple All-Americans, conference champions, and SCC top-10 performers, highlighted by the school record 4x100m team that ran 39.88.

Suarez is an alumnus of Concordia University Irvine, earning his Masters of Arts degree in Kinesiology in 2013. Prior to graduate school, Suarez earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in Kinesiology at Chico State while running under the watch of Hall of Fame distance coach Gary Towne. Suarez transferred to Chico State from Sacramento City College where he was team captain for the 2007 State Championship Track and Field team. Suarez holds a USATF Level 2 Certification.
