Indoor and Beach Volleyball Teams Earn USMC/AVCA Academic Award

QUINCY - The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today (7/13) that more than 1,300 collegiate and high school volleyball teams have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2022-2023 academic year. The award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 or higher.  

The Feather River College indoor volleyball team, which won the CCCAA State Championship on the court in 2022, was 1 of 37 two-year colleges in the country that earned the award. They were only 1 of 2 California Community Colleges.

This is the 7th time the Golden Eagles have won the award under Head Coach Sarah Ritchie. The Golden Eagles won in 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and now 2022. The Golden Eagle indoor team was also awarded the additional Honor Roll distinction which represents the top 20% of team GPAs in the division.  

The Feather River College beach volleyball team, which finished 6th in the State of California on the sand in 2023, was 1 of 65 collegiate beach teams in the country to earn the award. They were the only California Community College.   

This is the 3rd time the Golden Eagles have won the award under Head Coach Sarah Ritchie. The Golden Eagles won in 2020 and 2022 as well.
