Makenzie, who prefers ‘Kenzie’, grew up in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Throughout school she was involved in various sports including soccer, volleyball, softball, basketball, and track. She began working with other sports while she herself was still in high school and began getting involved with sports medicine through athletic training practicum at away games and knew early on that Athletic Training was her career of choice. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon. While at UO, she completed countless hours of athletic training practicum at the intramural, club and NCAA DI level. After college, she became a medical scribe for a physician’s assistant at a general medical clinic that served low-income populations.

She then attended Pacific University earning her Masters of Science in Athletic Training and graduated with honors. She conducted individual research pertaining to the effects of exercise on mood. She continued to work a variety of sports at the high school level as well as all three NCAA divisions of intercollegiate athletics. The summer between her first and second year of graduate school Kenzie completed an internship at Legacy Orthopedic Clinic. Her clinical rotation during her final year of graduate school was at the University of Oregon.

Kenzie shared that she has a passion and drive to be the best, most resourceful healthcare professional she can be to the community she serves. “I hope to be able to provide the student-athletes the best possible experience as athletes, and assisting them in any way possible to be better students and individuals as a whole”.
