SACRAMENTO--Feather River had double digit run and hit totals for the fifth time this season in survivng American River College 10-8 on Monday afternoon at Beaver Field.
The Golden Eagles improved to 7-3 with the win, while American River suffered just their second loss of the season (5-2). The loss for ARC snapped a four-game win streak.
FRC had 11 hits in the game, and they started early with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Kory Chu drove in two with a double to put the Golden Eagles on top 2-0, and that lead held until the third inning.
The Beavers put four runs on the board in that inning, but FRC tied it in the top of the fourth on shortstop Dylan Marx's two-run single, on what would turn out to be the offensive theme for the day. Zane Denton also had an two-run single in the sixth, as did Chu. Denton added an RBI-one base knock in the seventh. In all, it was like death by a thousand paper cuts for the Beavers, as FRC had just one extra base hit, Chu's double in the first.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles sent six different pitchers to the mound to try and stave off the hosts. Jayden Andrade did the bulk of the work late in the game, with 3.1 innings pitched, allowing three hits, one run and he struck out three. Gavin Moreno came on with one gone in the ninth to get the final two outs and earn the save.
Chu finished with three hits and three RBI in the game. Marx, Denton and Anthony Cepeda had two hits each, with Marx and Denton plating two runs apiece.
Feather River will be in Ukiah tomorrow (schedule change) to take on Mendocino in a single game at 1 pm, and will take on the Eagles again on Wednesday at noon. Friday's schedule show FRC playing at San Joaquin Delta and Saturday they will take on San Mateo.
