UKIAH--Kani Thomas pitched six effective innings and the top three spots in the Feather River batting order lashed out seven hits as the Golden Eagles took care of Mendocino, 10-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Ukiah.
It was the third win in a row for the Dirty Birds, moving their record to 8-3 on the season. Weather permitting, they are slated to play Mendocino again today.
Thomas had the longest outing of his young season, allowing just two hits and one earned run. He worked around six walks and fanned two. Drew Perigo pitched the final three innings and was lights out, keeping the home team hitless while striking out five. He notched his first save of the year.
The Golden Eagles had plenty of offense to support Thomas and Perigo, rapping 13 hits over the course of the afternoon. Dylan Marx, Anthony Cepeda and Kory Chu, occupying the top three spots in the order, provided over half of those hits. Marx was 2-for-5 with a double, Cepeda was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored four times, and Chu had three hits, two RBI and a double. Chu has now driven in 14 runs in 11 games and is hitting .432.
Nick Anderson added a pair of hits and two RBI for an offense that is hitting .310 as a team and is averaging just under 10 runs a game.
The Golden Eagles and Eagles (1-5) look to play a single game today at noon.
