Golden Eagles Win Back and Forth Game over Mustangs in Extra's

STOCKTON--In a wild and topsy turvy game that featured five lead changes and three ties, Feather River outlasted host San Joaquin Delta on Friday afternoon in ten innings, 10-8.

Feather River's fifth straight win moved them to 10-3 on the season. San Joaquin Delta fell to 7-5.

The Golden Eagles rapped out 14 hits and scored twice in the ninth and tenth innings to rally back for the win. Pinch hitter Landon Sable's two-run single in the tenth put FRC ahead for the first time since the third inning, and Nick Anderson closed out the bottom half of the inning by inducing a ground ball double play to secure the win.

In the ninth, Grant McGuire doubled and came home on Kolt Kurzman's triple. Kurzman scored on Dylan Marx's double to tie the game at 8-8. In the tenth, FRC loaded the bases with a pair of walks and a catcher's interference call, and Sable's clutch hit made it 10-8.

Before that, the game bounced back and forth. The Mustangs scored first with a pair of runs in the second inning, but FRC came back with four in the third. SJDC put up three runs in the fifth, and so it went. Feather River used eight different pitchers, with the final three keeping the home team off the scoreboard to claim the win. Will Page-Allen pitched two-thirds of scoreless ball, Michael Hoefgen pitched a full inning and worked around a hit and walk to get the win, and Anderson ended the with a 1.1 inning save, allowing just one hit in the tenth before the double play ball.

Dylan Marx led the Feather River hit parade with three hits, including a double. Anthony Cepeda, Kory Chu, Grant McGuire and Kolt Kurzman had two hits each. Chu and McGuire had a double each, and Kurzman hit a triple. Quinten Terrell hit a solo home run in the third inning.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up this final road trip before Golden Valley Conference play starts next weekend with a Saturday encounter at San Mateo. Game time is set for 1 pm.
