
Ashley Chavira steps into her role as Interim Head Women's Basketball Coach and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Feather River College with an impressive background and a clear vision for the future. With a successful six-year tenure at Hoover High School, where she recorded a 96-72 overall record and earned Coach of the Year honors in 2019, Chavira has demonstrated her ability to build competitive teams. In her final season at Hoover, she led her squad to a solid 16-13 record and a sixth consecutive Division III playoff appearance, highlighting her expertise in team development.
Chavira's commitment to her players is evident in her track record of guiding them to higher levels of competition, including sending one athlete to Division I, two to Division II, and two to NAIA programs. This dedication to player development is central to her coaching philosophy as she aims to rebuild the Women's Basketball Program at Feather River College.
Her coaching journey has been enriched by valuable experiences at Merced Community College, where she learned under the mentorship of Allen Huddleston Sr., a notable coach with accolades including a 2018 State runner-up finish and multiple Central Valley Conference championships.
Academically, Chavira holds a master's degree in Sports Management and Administration from Liberty University, along with a Bachelor's in Communications and Public Relations from Montreat College. As a player, she excelled at Santa Ana Community College, earning recognition as both team captain and an All-State Player in the Orange Empire Conference. She continued to shine at Montreat College, where she was the second leading three-point shooter in her senior year and also contributed to the softball team, showcasing her athletic versatility.
With her rich experience as both a player and coach, Ashley Chavira is well-equipped to make a significant impact at Feather River College, driving the Women's Basketball Program towards success and fostering a culture of excellence.
