
Quincy - For the second straight year, more than 100 women's Indoor and Beach Volleyball players who played at California Community Colleges have earned scholarships to play at 4-year universities in an announcement today by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA).
A record 30 student-athletes from the 2023-24 class are heading to NCAA Division 1 programs, 10 more than the previous season. Thirty-seven colleges overall sent players to the next level.
Feather River, the 3C2A state champion in Beach Volleyball and state runnerup in Volleyball, had the most scholarship transfers for the third consecutive year with eight, followed by American River, Rio Hondo, Bakersfield, and Pasadena City with six each.
A group of 16 players from the 2023 All-State, All-Region teams gained scholarships, including seven AVCA All-Americans led by San Diego Mesa's 2023 State Tournament MVP Kailyn Jager (UC Riverside), Fresno City's Druegan Davis (Cal State Bakersfield), Feather River's Katherine Gee (St. Mary's College), and Ventura's Kayla Murdoch (Cal Poly SLO).
Some of the other D1 talents leaving California are Feather River's Keniya Cleveland (Washington State), San Diego Mesa's Jaelyn Douglas (Iowa State), and Lassen's All-State outside hitter Cayton White (Gardner-Webb).
