6'1 Sophomore Outside Hitter Lucy Ryan from Nevada, Reno has made her choice! The 2024 Golden Valley Conference MVP will be playing next season at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. Lucy is a two-time state champion with the Golden Eagles (2024 Beach Volleyball and 2024 Indoor Volleyball) as well as a member of the All-State Tournament Team for 2024. Lucy has accepted a Full Scholarship offer to become a Lancer next season and stated that she chose the school because she likes the coaching staff, the campus (and location), as well as the fact that the University offers her major. Ryan is a Biology Major and plans to receive her BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. What brought Lucy Ryan to Feather River College? "Coach Ritchie and her program, I knew she could develop me as a player, and she lived up to the hype!" Ryan is extremely generous in her praise for Head Coach Sarah Ritchie and is thankful to the Feather River College Community for their strong support of the Golden Eagles Volleyball program. When asked about the difference between indoor and beach, she was quick to admit that the difference is tremendous, and feels she is stronger in indoor than outdoor, however she is confident that her team is razor focused on repeating as state champions this spring. "You give up a lot, to get a lot - my favorite thing about FRC Volleyball is our work ethic and the people I am surrounded by who believe in the same," commented Ryan. Ryan stated that her favorite game memory from her two-year career at FRC was a contest versus Lassen College her Freshman season and that her favorite moment was winning the state championship. Lucy would like to give a special "shout out" to Super Sophomore Setter, Maya Cann from Chico, CA - "Maya is an amazing setter, and made me a better player." On Behalf of your Golden Eagles Family, Good Luck Lucy and Congratulations, we will be watching and cheering for you as you continue your career and we will always be thankful for your commitment and success at FRC!
