FRC Pulls Out Big Lumber in 20-1 Win

FRC Pulls Out Big Lumber in 20-1 Win

BAKERSFIELD--What a difference a day can make.

One day after suffering through the wrong side of a big inning, Feather River jumped on opponent Moorpark for ten runs in the fourth on their way to a 20-1 victory over the Raiders on Friday in Bakersfield. The Golden Eagles are now 2-1 on the season and Moorpark is 1-1.

Kyle Giovannani tossed five shutout innings, allowing only two hits and a pair of walks to win in his first start of the season. Three other pitchers combined to post zeros, short of an unearned run in the sixth inning--Andrew Burmer, Bridger Holmes and JJ Neal.

But the big headlines went to the big bats. The Golden Eagles laced out 23 hits in eight innings and led from start to finish. Cooper Thacker went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base, and eight other players had two hits each--Eric Romero, Cooper Kitrel, Cory McIntyre, Ryan Blanchard, Nainoa Kane-Yates, Wyatt Larranaga, Koby Roberts and Ryan Gray

Hopefully Feather River saved some offense for Saturday when they wrap up the first road trip of 2022 at Merced. Start time is 1 pm and can be followed on Facebook at Feather River College Baseball.
