Feather River Bounces Back

Feather River Bounces Back

SAN MATEO--One day after a pair of losses with an offense that wasn't true to form, Feather River bounced back with double digit hitting numbers during a 10-7 win over Sierra College.

The victory avenged a 6-3 loss to Sierra on Friday, snapped a mini three-game losing streak and bumped the Golden Eagles record up to 6-3. FRC used 11 hits to cross the plate ten times, marking the fourth time in nine games that Feather River has scored at least 10 runs in a game.

Today, they used two big innings to light up the scoreboard. The Golden Eagles scored four runs in the third and five more in the fourth to build a 9-2 lead that they wouldn't relinquish. They would push that margin to 10-2 before the Wolverines cut the final count to just three runs.

Four players had nine of the 11 FRC hits. Grant McGuire had three base knocks, while Zane Denton, Quinten Terrell, and Anthony Cepeda had two each. Cy Peterson had the lone extra base hit, a two-run double in the third.

Nick Anderson earned the win in relief, his second of the season. Will Page-Allen closed out the ninth for the save, benefitting from tough catches by rightfielder Drake Rogers and second baseman Toby Parry to get two outs, and then the sophomore struck out the final Wolverine to end the contest.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is a 2 pm contest in Sacramento against American River on Monday and a 1 pm contest in Ukiah against Mendocino College on Tuesday.
