Seahawks Stun Golden Eagles, 10-6
QUINCY--Visiting Cabrillo College brought red hot bats with them today to the Eagles Nest, pounding out 18 hits and crossing the plate 10 times during an upset of Feather River, 10-6.
The No. 4 seed Golden Eagles face an elimination game in the 32CA NorCal playoffs tomorrow (Friday), taking on the Seahawks at 11 am. If Feather River wins, the two squads will play again 30 minutes afterwards, with a spot in the Super Regionals on the line.
The No. 21 seed Seahawks scored in nearly every inning of the contest, including two in the first and second innings and three times in the fifth. Feather River sent six pitchers to the mound to try and stem the barrage, finally keeping the visitors off the board the final two innings.
But meanwhile, Feather River struggled to get enough offense going. They had just six hits on the day, three big ones in the fourth when they plated three runs. Kolt Kurzman and Anthony Cepeda had RBI-doubles in the inning and Dylan Marx knocked in a run to give FRC a 6-5 lead at the time.
But the Golden Valley Conference champs wouldn't score again while the Seahawks kept putting numbers on the board. The Golden Eagles had just one more hit the rest of the way, to fall for the just the second time in their last ten games.
FRC looks to rebound Friday morning to keep their season alive.
