QUINCY--Feather River dropped a 9-2 NorCal Super Regional game to Sacramento City College this afternoon at the Eagles Nest, setting up a must-win contest on Friday against Sierra College.
The Golden Eagles will face the Wolverines, a 14-7 winner earlier today against Sacramento City, at 11 am.
Today, FRC fell prey to a good pitching performance from SCC's Brady Wilson. Wilson calmed the Golden Eagle bats in seven innings of work, allowing two earned runs, six hits and he fanned six. Wilson worked with the confidence that his offense produced six runs before Feather River could get on the board, taking a 6-0 lead into the sixth when the home team scored its first run.
The Panthers added three more runs in the seventh for more insurance.
Feather River had seven hits on the day, two by Kory Chu. But they couldn't piece enough of the hits together to get more than two plate crossers. The home team also had an uncharacteric four errors on defense to hurt their cause.
The Golden Eagles will take a 33-11 record into a must-win Friday.
