Bio

Coach Tyra Kelso primarily works with FRC’s outfielders and slappers. She is in her 5th season as an assistant coach. Tyra also spent one year as FRC’s Assistant Athletic Director. Tyra played for the Golden Eagles for 2 seasons and was part of 2 Golden Valley Conference Championships in 2017 and 2018. During her time as a player she led off in the batting order and played center field. She helped lead her team to a ranking of #5 in the state of California and #2 in Northern California in 2018 when the Eagles finished 33 and 7. After her 2 years at FRC, Tyra transferred to Oklahoma Baptist where she played softball and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Sports Management and Business Management.

Tyra is a huge part of FRC Softball and has multiple duties in the softball office and on the field. She is a young energetic person who leads by example both on and off the field. Kelso runs FRC softballs study hall and has had 6 student athletes who were awarded Academic All-State honors. On her days off she enjoys reading a good book, traveling, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her husband Shane Kelso.
