
QUINCY - The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced that more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball teams have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2023-2024 academic year. The award honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 or higher.
The Feather River College indoor volleyball team, which finished second on the court in the state of California in 2023, was 1 of 42 two-year colleges in the country that earned the award. They were only 1 of 6 California Community Colleges.
This is the 8th time the Golden Eagles have won the award under Head Coach Sarah Ritchie. The Golden Eagles won in 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and now 2024.
The Feather River College beach volleyball team, which won the 3C2A State Championship in 2024, was also awarded the additional Honor Roll distinction which represents the top 20% of team GPAs in the division.
This is the 4th (most for two-year college beach) time the Golden Eagles have won the award under Head Coach Sarah Ritchie. The Golden Eagles won in 2020, 2022, 2023, and now 2024.
